Foucault is a very chill, sweet cat. He has been outdoor/indoor his whole life. He is not fit for an apartment or small space and would thrive in a home with a big backyard or outdoor .askportland r/Portland Came at 24 in 2015 - chose Portland because I wanted to live in a place that cared about the environment, had a good live music scene, and where more people thought like I did.I'll start with the good. Portland is a good location due to the distance to the coast, hiking in the Columbia Gorge, and is a short distance (about an hour) away from Mt. Hood. Drive an hour outside of the city and it can be fairly remote. Also if you are into hiking, there are sooooooo many trails to choose from.

Better have financial security. Better have a stable job. Portland used to be (10 plus years ago) a city where you could get a quick barista job and pay for an apartment. Not any more. It is a relatively expensive west coast city. If you don’t have financial security and a solid job, you risk homelessness.Don’t stay in downtown Portland. There’s no benefit. Portland is an extremely small big city. Heads up that you’ll want to book accommodations outside of downtown. Most of the happy people I surround myself with that moved to Portland because of the relatively easy living and affordability have stayed here through all of the changes because they still love living here and are enjoying their surrounds, not spending their time whining online.Keep in mind that the nicer hotels in general will be expensive as the travel industry is trying to recover after a massive recession as travel returns to normal.
